Some ideas for v2.0

(4 posts)

  1. Hello,

The following are some things I'm thinking of adding to Cashcow v2.0 depending on the level of interest.

I'd like to add AppleScript support if there is demand. I can see how scripting Cashcow can be handy but I don't know if anyone would actually want to do it so let me know what you think.

Addings notes to budget periods, so you can do stuff like describing your situation at the time you made a change to your budget.

I want to add more reports and advisor tasks. Let me know what types of reports and tasks will be helpful to you.

I've liked what I've seen with you app. As I was testing it I thought, I would like to be able to do the following:

1Manually edit the date in the spending screen

2Add income categories and a line reflecting income less expense for budget period to see if planned budget exceeds expected income.

Also, I have pressed display in the reports section and it asked me which adobe app I would like to use. What is this for? I selected reader and nothing happens. If it creates a pdf report, can it just auto open using preview (in case I don't have reader installed)?

  3. Hello,

    Thanks for the feedback.

I'm currently putting together a few enhancements to release a minor update. I will definitely look at incorporating your first suggestion into this.

As for your second suggestion, it will require thought on how to streamline it into the existing interface without taking away the simplicity which is the goal of the software. Most people would only have one source of income which is their salary, and the application displays the total budget so some quick calculations would suffice. However, if there is enough requests for this feature I will definitely include it sometime in the future. Sorry if this isn't the answer you might be hoping for.

In regards to the reports, Cashcow uses Safari to displays the report inside the application. Does Safari display Pdf's ok on your system? If you would like to send me a few screenshots at bao@ratfacestudios.com I might be able to assist further. Also be sure to let me know what version of Safari you're running (to check the version, click on the Safari menu and select About) and what version of Mac OS X. Bear in mind I'm off to celebrate Easter so I may not be able to respond quickly. Depending on what version of Mac OS X you're running, I found the following pages using Google which may or may not be helpful:

  4. Hi,

I've just uploaded version 1.1 of Cashcow which allows you to edit dates in the spending screen (if it's in the same budget) among other things. Grab it here or just open Cashcow and it should automatically update itself.

    Thanks.
